You gave this holy land as a dowry to Israel, like a bride and groom.
You laid a cornerstone in Qiryat Hana, and paid visits, year in and year out.
The pure of heart prepared incense of spices, and whole sacrifices on altars of brass.
The land was holy and free of idol worship. For “from Zion sprouts forth Torah”, the legacy of Moshe.
Here in the center of the universe, the perfect man dreamt of a ladder, linking this world to the world above.
Ritual filled the calendar, upon the holy mountain, which is in the holy land.
Dew and rain from the heavens appeared in good measure, when we didn’t betray the land and worship false idols.
Pleasant and dry, a land for atonement. God created commandments, and Israel studied them.
